S'ports Ball 2002

Amy SkyA night to remember....

Friday June 7th 2002 was definitely a night to remember.  This year the program presented not only two but three stage personalities.   Returning to the stage was CFTO’s Pauline Chan and flown in from B.C, Erick Thompson.  Newcomer, Rogers Rhonda Weber added a new flavour to the program.

The Youth Volunteers opened up the evening by singing the national anthem.  Bringing greetings from the Provincial and Federal governments Tina Molinari and Bryon Wilfert extended a welcome to all that participated that night.  Future Globetrotter candidates the Toronto Five-O showed the crowd what they were made out of through their twirls and spins.

S'port for Kids Foundation Ambassador: Tracy WilsonThe Keynote speaker for the night was Tracy Wilson; Olympian, Sports Broadcaster, Member of the Order of Canada and Ambassador to the foundation.   She gave a speech that scored nothing but perfect 6.0’s.  She took the crowd through a life full of Triple-Axels and toe loops but she always seemed to end in a graceful stance.

The musical talents of the Nylons and Amy Sky took the rest of the night away.  The Nylons stormed into the room booming with their vocal energy, carrying the night away singing classics like “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”.  They exited the stage with another classic “Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)”.    Amy Sky finished the night off with her smooth lyrical sound proving that she truly is a phenomenal woman.  She performed all her Greatest Hits, which includes “I will take care of you” and of course “Phenomenal Women”.
