Open Office

OpenOffice.org is both a product and an open-source project. Both have been in existence since October 13, 2000. OpenOffice.org 1.0, the product, was released on April 30, 2002. OpenOffice.org's Mission Statement is "To create, as a community, the leading international office suite that will run on all major platforms and provide access to all functionality and data through open-component based APIs and an XML-based file format."It is distributed as free software and written using its own GUI toolkit. It supports the ISO/IEC standard OpenDocument Format (ODF) for data interchange as its default file format, as well as Microsoft Office formats among others. As of November 2009, OpenOffice supports over 110 languages.

Lotus Word Pro and 1-2-3

Lotus Word Pro is a word processing program that comes as part of the Lotus Smart Suite package. You can produce anything that might need to contain text and graphics. Create reports, documents and proposals in a snap with the word processor for today's Internet-centered world. Word Pro offers excellent file compatibility with Microsoft Word, plus a choice of other menu formats, including Lotus Ami Pro, Microsoft Word, and WordPerfect. Lotus 1-2-3 is IBM's premium spreadsheet program, part of the Lotus SmartSuite package, used primarily to enter, manipulate, compute, graph, analyze, and store numeric data in the same fashion as Microsoft Excel.
