A&L HERO*
HERO
FACT SHEET * The Healthcare Electronic Resources
On-Line software HERO and the transactional network was
developed by HTN Inc. of Oakville. HTN Inc. is the exclusive
world-wide sales, development, marketing and support agent for
HERO and is a member of IBM's Best Team and Microsoft's
Solution Provider programs. The company is financed and 60%
owned by the Health Transaction Network Partnership.
* The Windows-based HERO software provides advantages
over traditional DOS-based packages used in the medical office
automation market. HERO offers a major benefit because
of its ability to send transactional information over the network
and the potential to become the standard on/off ramp to a healthcare
specific information highway.
* HERO is the first product that allows physicians
to connect on-line and delivers all provider services with a
single integrated package. Other electronic communication systems
all have single purpose functions such as lab requisitions,
electronic mail, prescription writing or OHIP billing.
* Features such as cut and paste, Object Linking & Embedding
(OLE), uniformity of design with other Windows packages and
the use of standard print drivers provide many performance and
ease-of-use benefits to the user.
* Transmitted data that is received, processed and routed to
the designated recipient on the HERO Network is based
on a Microsoft Windows NT platform, providing users with reliability
and unlimited expansion capability as the number of users on
the network grows. Unlike the Internet, it is a closed, proprietary
network that provides military-level security and confidentiality.
Note: A&L HERO* is designed for the Ontario, Canada medical billing market
